Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is a Unitary Authority located in the North East Region, but with strong links to Yorkshire.
Redcar and Cleveland has a mixture of urban and rural landscapes and contains part of the North York Moors National Park (which has its own planning authority). The coastal area from Saltburn southward forms part of the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast. Based on the Landscape Character Assessment, the rural area is divided into sensitive and restoration landscapes.
