North Yorkshire County Council

North Yorkshire is a two-tier non-metropolitan county containing 8 District authorities (see below). In geographical extent it is the largest in England if the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are included, but has a generally low population density.

The Strategic Policy and Economic Growth team covers the whole county including partnership working, 'duty to cooperate' matters, major infrastructure delivery, devolution and other sub regional work. The Planning Services team deals with local plans and development management for minerals and waste, highways and countymatters including the Howardian Hills, Nidderdale and part of the Forest of Bowland AONBs.

North Yorkshire has a landscape specialist - the Principal Landscape Architect who works within the multidisciplinary Heritage Services team which provides advice on natural and cultural environment matters.
